I just got word that I can get into a phase 3 trial for xiljanz and am wondering what comes along with these trials. Has anyone tries this med for RA? It has not yet been approved for PSA but has been for RA and psoriasis.

Hiya dazzlebandit. I hope you get some response but I'm afraid there won't be many unless our US members have info for you as both the EMA (drug licencing EU) or the MHRA (drug licencing UK) have to date refused marketing authorisation for RD, PsA, psoriasis for it's potential use. It appears there are trials for UC but not arthritis related diseases. I did find an article which I found of interest regarding the use for alopecia sufferers but it seems unlikely it will be passed as it is produced due to cost & major side effects. Forewarned is forearmed so if you're considering taking the offer up I would do your homework first & if you have any reservations direct your questions to the drug company who have contacted you. I don't know if it will open for you but this is the article

alopeciaonline.org.uk/viewN...

Good luck & I hope it helps you if you decided to take up the trial for PsA.

The above shows that there are trails going on over here under the NHS, it's on it's third phase. I am watching closely on all trails for PsA as Enbrel is near the end of life on patent, and Bio-similars are being tested and trailed to replace the brand Enbrel but use the drug Entercept, as they have recently done with Arava, (Leflunomide).

I have been taking the generic of Lelfunomide for that past nine months and it's not as good nor lasts as long as the branded. Yet medics say there is no difference, only perhaps the longevity of the drug. If Bio-similars have the same effect as generic on Leflunomide have then I will have to question why I am being given these drugs and wasting NHS money.

My sister is in a trial of taking this - it seems to be an open trial as she knows that is what she is taking.

She is being monitored closely for any ill-effects. So far she has had slightly raised muscle enzymes, and has stopped taking the stains she was on previously in case it is an interaction with those. But she is very happy about the effectiveness and has come off the steroids she previously took with other DMARDs.

Getting off the steroids is exactly why I am seeking further treatment. I have been prescribed Enbrel but cannot afford it. I have also taken Otezla but suffered severe depression within the first month of taking it.
