My name is Victoria and I work on the NRAS helpline, as well as being one of the admins on the NRAS HealthUnlocked forum. Those of you who have joined in the last 6 months won’t know who I am, but for those of you who joined before then I wanted to let you know that I am now back from maternity leave! I’ve had a wonderful 6 months with my son, James and am lucky to be leaving him in the very capable hands of his dad for the next 6 months.
Today was my first day back and it’s surprising what you still remember after 6 months away (you’d hope I wouldn’t forget everything, as I’ve worked at NRAS for 6 years). I can even remember the codes to most of our publications, and have had the pleasure of taking a couple of helpline calls today, speaking to some lovely callers and dusting off my grey cells.
To those of you who I have come to know quite well, I thought you might want a bit of an update. James is doing very well. He is generally a smiley, happy little chap and a real pleasure, though like any baby, he has his moments! He has become very used to having his photo taken, so as you can see from the photo in this post, he is sometimes a bit of a poser!
I look forward to having contact with everyone on here, both old and new, and of course to speaking to anyone who calls the helpline.
Just to remind you, the helpline is available Mon-Fri, 9.30 – 4.30 on 0800 2987650.
Best wishes to you all

Hi Victoria , great to see you back and what a great picture of you and James! you look so well and happy. how many times have you called or texted home today!!
Thank you for those kind words. I've been very good and only called once at lunch, but I have asked my husband to send me the occasional photo to brighten my day!
Hi Victoria - welcome back! - it must be hard to part with your gorgeous looking James but as he grows I'm sure he will be very proud of the work his mum is doing to help people with RA.
Welcome back Victoria, I haven't been on for ages so really glad to have popped on today and seen that you're back, you've always helped me so much and you've been missed. I can't believe how quickly that time has flown. James is absolutely scrummy, bet you had the best cuddle when you got home tonight, boys are especially cuddly!! Sons I mean haha!
Welcome back Victoria. Wow that's soon passed, I guess you think so too! James (& you!) look very happy in the pic, thank you for posting it. That's lovely his dad will be looking after him & I'm sure it'll make returning to work much easier knowing he's in good hands.
Happy Faces! James is gorgeous. Many congratulations and nice to see you back, Victoria. You were very helpful to me when I phoned and asked about biologics a couple of years ago. Many thanks and you all do a great job We appreciate this so much.
Thank you for your lovely comments. Though it was hard to leave him it's getting easier and seeing your nice comments and familiar faces has really helped welcome me back!
A big welcome back from me too. The first six months of bonding is very precious as I'm sure you already know, now it's dad's turn and what a blessing it must be to share the joys of your lovely little boy. Xx
