I take 15mg of MXT (only been on them for two weeks)
And for the last two weeks I've had a rotten cold, I haven't had any sleep for two nights due to constant coughing. Does anyone know if I could take a sleeping tablet while on MTX. I really need some sleep tonight.
Thanks Sandra

If you are suffering a cold and taking MXT you should contact your RA Nurse as this medication can cause contraindications and this can affect the lungs. Generally they stop the medication until your cold goes. You need to confirm
Thanks for your reply, I do feel breathless as well but just putting it down to my cold. I will phone the nurse tomorrow to see if I should take this weeks MTX.
Hiya Sandra. That's rotten luck, starting MTX then getting a cold. As Bob says, it's best to speak to your Rheumy nurse. If it's hung around for 2 weeks your body's not fighting it too well. She should be able to advise about any other medication too.
Hi sandra I am on 20mg methotrexate, and I take sleeping tablets when needed, obviously get them prescribed by a doctor, I take zopiclone 7.5mg that works for me. It is horrid when we don't get sleep, especially when something else is going on other than the ra.
I take Methotrexate and zopiclone and have never been told by my GP or consultant not to take them on the same day. When I have done there has never been a problem. However, I would check first of all that it is OK for you. Can't you just phone your Nurse?
I know my reply comes a little late but knowing would help in the future. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks everyone, I did leave a message in the nurses answer machine last night, she still hasn't got back to me. It does say it could take up to 3 days for a reply. Fortunately I did have better nights sleep last night, so wasn't falling asleep at work today
