NRAS is currently responding to a call for evidence for the first Independent Review of the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) being undertaken by Paul Gray. PIP is replacing Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and is a non-means tested benefit, comprised of both a mobility and care component, designed to help disabled people live independent lives.
The Independent Review is a great opportunity to highlight our concerns about the benefit and how it has been operating since its introduction last year. PIP is a benefit that is frequently claimed by people with RA so it is really important that we hear from you about your experiences of claiming it.
We would be very grateful if you felt able to share your experiences and answer the following questions:
•How did you find the process of claiming PIP? (50 words)
•If you have had a face to face assessment how did you find the experience? (50 words)
•How well did you feel the process captured the nature of your condition and any fluctuation? (50 words)
•Did you feel you were awarded an adequate level of support for your needs? (50 words)
The Disability Benefits Consortium (DBC), of which NRAS is a member, has been running a survey to capture the experience of PIP claimants. This survey is still open and it would be fantastic if you felt able to complete it. It should take 20 minutes to complete.
