My friend has RA, and is elderly and I appear to remember that someone had posted about some kind of benefit to help with cost for a cleaner

Look up disability living allowance or might now have changed yo Personal independence payment in your area. Designed to help with the above . X

Allanah, I think it's different when you are over 64, as my father (79) gets attendance allowance for help to pay a carer, he has had this for quite a few years. I may wrong with the new ruling and you only continue to get it if you had it before. But thought I would mention this is what he receives.

That may have been me when posting about PIP. This benefit won't apply to your friend as she's 76. My f-i-l who's 83 receives Attendance Allowance. This link will help you get a better idea gov.uk/attendance-allowance...

It may also be worth looking at welfarerights.net/home.php too. Each council has their own contact details for each area.

Hope this helps.

No problems. Just another thought, if she needs help with applying the CAB were excellent with their help. They even made a home visit to help fill in the forms. This was initially for my m-i-l who had Parkinson's but they also queried if my f-i-l was receiving any benefits in his own right & as he wasn't they then set the ball rolling & applied for Attendance Allowance on his behalf which he receives at the higher rate.

One of the best places to contact is Age UK - they can let you know everything that is available in your area.
