Hello does anyone know how long it takes to see the nurse to start Methotrexate. It has been 4 weeks since i saw the consultant.
Methotrexate: Hello does anyone know how long it takes... - NRAS
Methotrexate
Usually it's fairly quick, once you've had the chest x rays and so on. I'd chase a bit as 4 weeks sounds quite a while even for busy rheumy units.
My rheumatologist gave me a letter which informed my gp I was to be put on mxt, and it was the gp who wrote the prescription
Hiya Jane. I take it it's tablets your consultant has started you on? Sometimes, as in my case, the Rheumy gives you your first prescription & he advised my GP to enter it on the computer as a repeat. If this is the case I don't think you need to see the nurse, but I may be wrong as I was diagnosed in Spain & it may not be the same here in the UK. If you ring your GP's practice & see if there's a prescription waiting for you & there's not they may be able to tell you what to expect. If it's injections, it took a fortnight from the Rheumy appointment to Rheumy nurse showing me how to inject. The RN had my first months prescription of MTX filled out & ready for me along with the extra one to demonstrate (that was here in the UK by the way).
If you have a contact number for your Rheumy nurses give them a ring & they'll be able to tell you for certain.
Thank you for your replies. The hospital rang and said I have an appointment tomorrow.
