a good quote
That's so good, sounds like Toni suffers from illness too?
That rings true....so many times recently I've had to cancel social engagements...
Strikes a real chord
So so true.xxxx
So so true Sandra,
Social isolation brings with it it's own mental anguish, with which all of us can equate. This site lets us share our emotions as we would with good friends.
Thanks for sharing Sandra.

Toni Bernhard became ill in 2OO1 with what seemed to be 'an acute viral illness' and has yet to recover - so yes she knows the path that we tread:-} She has written a couple of books about a Buddhist approach to living with chronic illness - she also writes a blog called 'Turning Straw into Gold'. It's good to come across people who are able to express so eloquently how it is to live with a chronic illness:-}

Thanks for sharing the quote.
I will look her up, sounds interesting, thanks for the info Cece, now as I have been out of action, how are you feeling, are you recovering?
Thanks for the quote Sandra. , it's exactly what happened to me with various friends , luckily the real ones are still here.
Slowly, is the word that most explains my progress so far Allanah! I need to be a patient patient:-} I'm trying not to thinks about what the surgeon said at my dressing change last week - that as I've had problems this time we may have to consider a longer recovery [non weight-bearing] time. So I'm taking it a day at a time - thinking about being stuck on the sofa til mid march would be too depressing, so I'm not thinking about it:-} I'm still very medicated so not feeling much of anything in a quite pleasant cotton-woolly way. But I do wish that I could manage to stay awake when I'm reading, I only seem to manage a page or two before my eyes are closing and I love books and reading and have a great big stock pile waiting for me to dive between their covers. Doh, well the only good thing is at least you can take your time to recover in the winter with your fleecy blankets and emerge fixed and butterfly like in the spring! Keep taking the pills lol , hugs xx
So true, but we must continue to try. Losing old friends is just too painful.
Sad, but true Zannie. We should continue to keep in touch, if these friends really matter to us. Oft times, telling them how it is with you and expressing your wishes to continue the friendship, may be all it takes. Remember, it is difficult for them too, as they don't know what is expected of them. Then again, filtering out the less-than-strong relationships gives you more time to concentrate on the ones who really want to be there for you. xxx
Sandra this is true sadly. Thank you for sharing xx
