Symphony

In the morning when I rise,

darkness lies along the road;

and from outside my door,

comes the croaking of a toad

as it crawls along the path,

towards the moonlit fields.

While in a nearby belfry,

a lonely church bell peals.

When the sun begins to creep

slowly up the garden wall,

and darkness fades away,

I hear the skylark call

as deep within the forest,

all the other birds awake

and join the chorus of the dawn,

and the herald of daybreak.

There in the shaded fen

a doe with cautious eye

dips her head to drink the dew,

as she hears a vixen cry.

Oh! That's lovely. You actually took me there with your words. What a lovely serene start to the day. xx

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I don't know what made me write this, it's in a similar vein.

Doe Of The Morning

Doe of the morning

how faithful you are,

keeping your secrets

when near, or afar.

Your eyes - sweet as almonds

and white silken throat,

you dance like a dove

on a far distant Oak.

Drink deep from the Lilies

all covered in dew,

then hide with your secrets

the white winter through.

There is no doubt, you are truly gifted, to be able to arrange words to paint such vivid pictures. Love every one of them! You should compose them for a book.

There is a book called "Anthology of Poetry" where you can apply to have your poems published. They may select more than one. I had one published several years ago in that book. It was "To My Grandaughter" and was written to her for her first Christmas. I later wrote it in Calligraphy and framed it for her when she was 16. Someday I will give her the book. It's a large book, coffee table style. If you want the address I can send it to you. xx
