Take photos - just in case its all cleared up before you see the rheumatologist next. Make sure you do mention it to the rheumatologist as well. Splitting nails can be a sign of another inflammatory disorder, or point towards psoriatic arthritis (if its nail psoriasis then you don't have to have it on the skin as well for a diagnosis). Either way, the rheumatologist needs to see it, and photos are a great record.

I have splitting nails, ridges and flaking, I mentioned this at my last Rheumy appointment amongst other issues dry skin and hair loss. I have now been taken off MTX and replaced with Mycophenolate. Its too early to tell if this has made a difference yet.

What is mycophenolate? Is this a DMARDs or biologic?

Yes i have lots of vertical ridges top to base and splits along the ridges, very annoying when u try to grow them.

Yes, I have those as well. According to my rheumy they are symptoms of psoriatic arthritis. Apparently the lines between the different forms of this disease are a bit blurry and they can share symptoms.

That is typical of Psoriasis or Psoriatic Arthritis. Tyhe remedy is to increase Folic acid to daily7. Makes a great diff. Bt, of course, you need to refer to your GP or Rheumy and ask about it.
