I've just completed the form regarding tribunal . Does anyone have experience? CAB who have supported me thus far, do not go to tribunals. This feels me with dread! Fear of the unknown perhaps, I feel that Im (we) are discriminated by the fact that its not visibly obvious at times too see how this condition affects us. People who know me well can take 1 look at me and know if I'm having a bad day.
My doctor has written a report which clearly states I should not work in his opinion, that I require care at times, can't walk far etc.
I feel I need to know others have been successful!!

hi a friend of mine had a similar experience of this just before Christmas. She went to appeal and took her husband they spoke to her about her health issues and how it affects her, after 20 minutes she was asked to leave the room for a few minutes. When they called her back in they were very understanding told her her appeal was successful and to take care. Hope this is helful as she is the only person as of yet whom I know has been to appeal. x

I was in the same situation when I applied a few years ago. I had to go to a tribunal as they rejected both the 'mobility component' and 'care component' of DLA as they said I had not had it long enough (I have had Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis since I was about 5 years old). I was in my late twenties when I finally applied as it was just getting too much for me and I was having to pay for taxis to work through access to work that cost me £10 a day as I could not drive due to my ankles. I also got letters from my rheumy, gp and employer. Make sure you take as much evidence as you can.
It was quite daunting going into the tribunal, I took my mum in with me and we were just really honest with them about how much I struggle day to day, but especially when I flare. They were all really nice and told us there that they will award me the mobility but not the care component which was ok with me as it paid for an automatic mobility car that I could get hand controls if needed.
I know it has all changed now so if it is the personal independence allowance it is much stricter as if you can walk at all, whether you use a stick or in pain all of the time it is unlikely to be awarded. Fingers crossed it goes ok for you. Everyone I know of that has applied for DLA has been rejected the first time and had to appeal so don't worry too much. x
Thank you for being so honest. I think you're right about them rejecting initially. I've got evidence etc from doctor, work colleague (have just stopped working due to the Ra ). I think that I need to swallow my pride, go in there and tell them exactly how it is day in day out, without the positive spin that I use to try and make things seem better than they are. Nobody likes a moaner, but needs must this time I'm afraid!
Hi there Case, I know how totally daunting these tribunals can be but the advise I have for you is to remember how you feel on your very worst days and portray that to the board. I was too ill to go to my tribunal so most of it was done through contact with my GP and consultants and then I had a home visit. Take a friend with you and take them into the office with you and then when there, sit and compose yourself with some deep breathing and relax, these people are there to help you.
It fills me with dread knowing I've got to go through it all again,
I have no feeling to the right side of my body after choking on food, my balance is really bad, and I have recently found out I have hyper mobility in all my joints.
It took 3 attempts before they changed it! So now I don't know what will happen.
I became a big believer in angels after that so I'm hoping they will help all they can!
I give this poem to people who are in need of some comfort and support, and I think you need it.
