Hi everyone, hope you are doing well and not flaring like me.

Last weekend I went to the wedding and had a lovely time. Not to much pain which was a plus. That was until I fell down a limestone step in front of the mansion. Luckily my stick stopped me going all my length down all of them but twisted my ankle and even now my foot hurts. Went for xrays on Tues and nothing broken so that's good.

Monday seems to be my yukky day as I call it and always assumed it was cos my body knew it was MTX day. So when I got up feeling my usual yukky self I thought it was that and getting over the long weekend. Tuesday I could barely walk or hold up but managed to go for the xrays. Weds my parents popped round and had to get me off the sofa. About the same yesterday and today a little worse.

I was called in to see my GP as some bloods were raised today. I told him about the sore throat, mouth ulcers and a headache from hell. He got worried and thought the MTX was compromising me. He told me to go home and ring my helpline to see what they thought and he would call me later. When I got home I rang but had missed today's opening hours. Eventually I got in touch with the hospital rheumy dept, told them everything and they said they will talk to a consultant and call me back. They did and said they didn't think it was the MTX but seeing as it's not working for me to stop taking it. This is fine by me but the hydroxy is not working either so dunno how much pain I am going to be in this time next week. They want me to have my bloods repeated in 2 weeks though and I see my nurse a week on Tues.

So for now I will see how I go, I did drop my pred on Monday from 15mg to 13mg but know it's not that that's made me have more pain as it's to quick for my body to have noticed.

Doc did think they would tell me to put it back up but they haven't so unless I get worse I will stick it out at 13mg.

I hate this wretched illness and all it brings. Sorry to sound depressing but if I didn't tell someone I think I would sit in a corner and cry.

To have pain with your RA on top of that the pain on twisting your ankle, no wonder you want to crawl in a corner and howl your eyes out. I am sorry to hear that your enjoyment was spoilt, luckily you were not alone.

Let's hope the nurse and consultant will have got together and made a decision on your meds for your meeting with her on Tuesday. In the meantime sit back and take it easy and don't try and do too much. xx

oh no, i knocked my ankle a few weeks ago and it was SO painful I thought it was broken, however it wasnt and the doctor said you feel the pain more because of your RA. I hope when the knock settles you will feel much better, and good luck for tuesday, hugs Axx

I agree with Allanah that little things seem to hurt more since got RA. I stubbed my toe earlier today, and I can still feel the foot throbbing. A couple of years ago I'd have hardly said "ouch". And it doesn't take much to tip you over the edge I to a flare, so I hope all calms down soon and you can manage until you see nurse. Polly

Thank you kindly , I will be resting up over the weekend as hubby is painting my kitchen so no cooking a roast.
