Steroids can give me a headache, because they increase my blood pressure. Not a migraine though.

I'm not on steroids but have minor headaches since starting on Sulfasalazine in addition to Mtx. For some reason I put the blame on mtx though, probably out of habit. Minor headaches are nothing compared to migraines, I know, but I think it's relevant because before all this I never had headaches at all.

Hi Woolly

I am on mtx as well, but never had any problems in the two yrs I have I have been on them. I have never had any head aches before this with my medication.

I had to stop MTX due to chronic daily migraines with numbness and aura.I stopped the MTX in january ( was only on it for 3 months)and am still getting the migraines daily.I was put on a higher dose of steroids 2 weeks ago and have found they have made the migraines more intense.

Hi

I get migraines about twice a year. When I was on sulpha as well as MTX and Hydroxy I got them every couple of weeks. Since stopping sulpha I haven't had another one. Generally I am at risk of getting them if I get over tired or a flash of light get me, like in a tube tunnel. I have auras too

I do suffer with migraines and found when I inject MTX next morning I get migraine ,but I have a wonderful tablet you can get from your chemist you have to fill out a criteria form for systems of migraine to be allowed them called ( IMIGRAN) .

I only have to take half a tablet as a whole one makes me too drowsy you only get two in a packet I know get them on prescription as they cost £8 I think around that price but seriously they work ,After about 20 minuets , wish I found them years ago. Hope this helps

I suffer with RA and only take paracetamol or tramadol for the pain. I have never suffered with migraine until about 12 months after being diagnosed. I think it is linked to the RA and not a lot to do with strong drugs. I have never taken MTX or Sulpha so I carn't blame them. I don't get it a lot, I would say 2 or 3 times a year, but seem to get it when in a lot of pain or under stress. I think RA has a lot of side affects which we still don't understand.

Hope this is of some help xxx

Thank you all for your replies. RA has a lot of hidden secrets. I was given inbrufen 400GM, they took away the pain but knocked me out for 12 hours.

My GP gave me Imigran but I couldn't take them as they are not suitable for Hemiplegic migraines apparently.
