RA and SHINGLES....?

Anybody got any connections between RA and Shingles.......just gone down with that too.......thought the pain in my hip was Aurthur(ritis)!!.....then saw the wonderful rash!!..

More meds!!....

if you are on steroids and immuno suppressed and v stressed shingles may occur??. the shingles virus lies dormant in the body hiding on a nerve ending somewere.. it is caused by being infected earlier in life by the chicken pox virus

I'm not on any steroid type drugs...but been under bundles of stress.....Trying to deal with RF positive blood test so possible RA (GP is very sure)...off to see consultant next month...meanwhile I need to get head round some big life changes...awwe not easy when you feel sooo crappy and are a control freak!!!!!!.........urghhhhhh

So sorry about your shingles - nasty, nasty illness.

My answer would have been the same as Summer and Watsons above but given that you are not yet on RA meds, I'm thinking that stress may have played a part in your developing shingles, because I reckon that when we are under a lot of stress, as you obviously are, then we are not able to fight infections etc as effectively as we might otherwise.

Really hope you feel better from the shingles soon and that you get a proper diagnosis and some help re the RA following your appointment next month.
