I had a visit from Atos about DLA. I got the award but it was quite tiring. Did they say why they were visiting? Glad your feeling better, Cal :D

When i got my benefit it was after appealing, but no i didn't get a visit or anything like that. You want to get all your aids and tablets and anything else that is helping you out at home. Ali don't cut your grass espedially if you live on your own,i know it might sound silly, but if it convinces them that you can't it might help your case,i hope i don't get into trouble for saying this.xxx

you must be getting a home visist from AtoSS because a lot of people are requsting their medicals to be recorded for proof of what AtoSS put into their report and they ran out of recording equipment. if possible i'd try to get them to still record your assesment by phoning up and telling them you want it recorded.

i'd go a step further than leaving your lawn and leave yourself and home a bit untidy too - by untidy i mean a pigsty clothes and empty crisp packets lying around - even if you always pay someone to tidy your home, AtoSS will put it into their report your house is kept nice and won't mention you have had help keeping it that way!

they wrote about me that they phoned me up (i didn't give them a real number bur they refused to process my claim without one so i had to make a number up :() and that got into taxi's alone which was a lie. there were a few other lies too.

good luck with your assessment.

You shouldn't HAVE to exaggerate anything - but, and it's a big BUT, you won't get anywhere unless you prove how BAD things can be. I messed up at my medical because the word "sometimes" somehow got translated to "most of the time". Do not tidy up, or wash your hair or wear smart clothes. Do not mow the lawn (good tip rattusrattus) leave washing up in the sink. I cannot describe all the lies that were told on my medical report - one of the best being that I can crouch to floor and stand again unaided. I was NOT even ASKED to do this - it was a total LIE. So best of luck let us know how you get on. x

Isn't it dreadful the way we are treated?

I spend a lot of time and energy trying to look nice and normal, and not be a burden to anyone. But when it comes to ATOS it seems it is best to do the opposite. I have heard they have targets to meet, so how can they really be fair to anyone?

And the worry they cause makes everyone feel even worse!

Hi i put in for DLA after three month's i had a Dr call he was was a practicing GP. For me it was what the consultant said my GP and the form i filled in. Also what the Dr who called said. Mind he spent quite a time explaining to me what he said would not make the decision. He very pointedly said the overall decision would be a person sitting in a room some were in an office. Needless i might add it was a big fat no for me.

I did have a letter from my consultant he said i was having a small amount of difficulty with my hands !!! But felt with write medication it would improve. I'm still waiting for the improvement!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will try again but think i need to get consultant to write a much stronger letter. I also agree with others make you and your home look unkempt. Apparently it does count about gardening even so don't do it. Finally good luck xx
