Hypnotherapy...looking for Terry O'Toole

Hi all

I'm planning to quit (again!) It's either horrible Champix (which I've tried and works) or preferably hypnosis.

I quit happily for three years after seeing a hypnotherapist in Bath called Terry O'Toole. That was nine years ago and I've been trying to find him. He did work in Hastings for a while, but now seems to have disappeared

Just wondered if anyone here has heard of him and knows where he is.

If not, has anyone succesfully quit using hypnotherapy and can recommend someone in the South West...Bath/Bristol.

I saw two stop smoking hypnotherapists last year and they were useless and unprofessional.

Thank you very much.

And good luck

Gaynor

  • Thank you very much Max.

I think those are old details for Terry. He doesn't replay to emails (or it's an out of date address). Will try that number in Hastings again.

I suppose because I managed to quit for 3 years with hypnotherapy and only 3 months with Champix, I'm inclined to go for the former.

I'm an "emotional" smoker with NO willpower!

Maybe I'll try the Champix and look for help elsewhere with my emotions!

Thanks again. You've done amazingly with your quit

Have a great day in rainy Bath!

  • Hi Gaynor (or is it Elizabeth? :))

Just wanted to say welcome back (didn't know you the last time around) and to wish you luck with your quit whatever method you decide to use in the end. I'd be willing to take a bet that you have heaps more willpower than you think you have. Anyone who has managed to quit for 3 years has certainly got what it takes.

I shall look forward to hearing how it is all going. All the best from me. :)

  • Thank you Mr/Ms Skiddaw. Sorry if I've got that wrong!

It's Gaynor. I was Elizabeth when I was on this forum before. I'd never joined anything like this so thought I should be more anonymous.

Now I'm 50 and I don't care quite so much!

My attempt to quit smoking shall begin in October. I know, I know, delaying tactics, but I know what I'm like and I need to prepare and I've got a lot of stuff happening in September

Yes, and I am delaying. It's scary!

Thank you for your encouraging words. I loved this forum before. It's SO helpful because we all know what each other is going through. I recommend it to anyone who is considering quitting.

  • Hi Gaynor,

I'm Mrs Skiddaw (Sam actually) and I was 50 in June so we're in good company! :D

I'm sure you can do it this time. I presumre you're going to do a Stoptober quit. I shall very much look forward to hearing how both the preparation and the quit itself is going. All the best to you.
