Hi Kaz, yes I think this is quite common and I've read posts from people advising the use of Corsodyl mouthwash, did the dentist recommend anything?

Sorry to hear you are suffering with gum disease. I know from experience how painful that can be. The best thing is Corsodyl mouthwash, but I also used an aloe Vera toothpaste from Holland and Barrett (other health stores are available) as it is also good for your gums. Wouldn't use either for more than a month tho. I assume the dentist gave your mouth a good clean but did you get any antibiotics? Hope you feel better soon.

Hello

I am in my 10th month of my quit.

I too have had loads of dental problems since quitting.

My denitst says its a combination of gum disease that was probably already there but masked by the smoking and the fact that the bacteria is going mad as not being killed off by the smoke in the mouth.

I have had to have a deep clean at a dentist specialist and now following a strict regime of teepee brushes and electric toothbrushes.

It seems to be working as no longer have bleeding gums. I have a follow up appointement later this month. Hopefully I have turned the corner.

I now look at it as another reason not to go back to smoking. I dont want to lose my teeth and that will be a real risk if if revert.

I hope you get your problems sorted out - use it as yet another reason not to go back to smoking - having no teeth is so not a good look !:D
