Hey

I've tried EVERYTHING to quit and I was yet again googling quitting and I found this site so thought I might try this.

I've done Zyban (about 4 times...once 5 years ago quit for a year and a half), patches, gym, read Alan Carr's book.

Every Monday I "quit", I don't smoke on Mon then on Tuesday night after work I have a cig then by Wed I'm back on it until next Mon.

I'm 29 and have been smoking for about 9 years. I struggle to stop but I'm petrified of getting lung/throat cancer so I'm going to try again.

I'm going to the shops soon to get some more patches and the inhaler too and I'll come to this forum when I need help..

Wish me luck!!

Thanks...just been reading through everything here and its really imformative and seems great...I am going to do it this time.

Looked at the whyquit.com and read the real stories about people who die young etc - really sad but hopefully it'll be the shock I need.

Welcome

Good morning, and well done on your decision to quit, it is a huge choice and the right one, and you must never doubt that. Lots of us on here have quit several times and have only just realised this time how much of a head game it is.

I would suggest you read, read, read. you don't say if you have got any support at home, it can certainly help if you do, but if you don't you will find plenty here.

Post often and let us all know how you are going, or post to rant, or post to rave, whatever you go through someone around here will have already done it and will be able to help.

Hope you have a great day.

Hi Col :)

Well done you deciding to quit again

Don't worry about past failures instead look to the future and being smoke free it feels great honest

Most of us on here have quit many times before I lost count the number of times a tried but this time with education and the help of this forum I have succeeded at last I smoked for over 50 [yes 50] years so if I can quit anyone can you just have to want it enough

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new memebrs

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Love

Marg

Hi, yes i'm like you, i have been permanently quitting for over a year now. Today is day one again for me, and this time has gotta be it, no matter what stress happens, no matter how much i want one with a glass of wine.:( I have to never take another puff , never buy them, never allow others to give me one.

Don't change your mind- you've made the decision to quit, so from this moment on you're a non smoker. THere's only good things ahead, and you're not missing out or depriving yourself of anything by not smoking. You have only good stuf to gain!

Thanks all for the messages...I've just been doing lots of reading and feel a lot stronger than I usually do.

Bev - regarding support at home - unfortunately my boyfriend smokes (he says he wants to give up but he hasn't tried much yet)! So thats where I normally fall down as I come home after work and have been strong the whole day and then see their cigarettes on the table and I have one...

Jude - I guess we can get through this one day at a time together - good luck!!
