I am on Champix this time....Yesterday was meant to be my quit day but so far, except for a slight bit of nausea as soon as i've taken the tablets...nothing...nada!!!!! I was under the impression i wasn't going to feel like smoking....i wouldn't enjoy them etc but when will that happen? Does it happen? Or do i have to just do it and hope the cravings aren't too bad? I am now on my second day of taking 1mg am and another 1mg pm....any shared experiences out there to help me?
Cheers, Dippy xx

I quit on day 10 of Champix - so that was after 2 full days on the full dose.
I didn't want to smoke by this time - but everyone is different.
Champix is not supposed to entirely take away the will to smoke, it is supposed to take away the "benefit" of smoking - the nicotine hit. It therefore makes smoking less enjoyable, even pointless and you stop.
However, the bit about smoking that none of the pharmaceuticals understand is the mental bit... the bit that makes smoking so tied into who you are that life is just "wrong" without it - nicotine hit or no nicotine hit.
I would suggest that a little education goes a long, long way - knowledge being power. Have a read of the links in my signature to start with.
You still have a few days in which to stop - with Champix it can be anytime between day 7 and 14....
You may not "not feel like smoking" but hopefully it will be less enjoyable and then when you stop the withdrawals will be more easily managed. Please do not expect a magic pill, but I would give it another couple of days to see what happens.
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
I also quit with champix just like my son StuartH and agree with what he says I also stopped on day 10 and found it easier than I expected to also as he says it's not a magic pill and it still takes willpower but it does make the whole thing easier to manage
i started the champix friday march 13th on the 0.5 mg tabs fags started to taste realy bad on my 5th day i stopped and iam on 2 weeks without a fag with no cravings at all and feeling good that ive done it
my brother started the same time and he got to day 13 and stopped but just pick a day in your second week and just stop you still need a bit of willpower but it will get better
I had my last cig on Friday 20th feb- 3 weeks after starting the champix. I gradually realized I didn't really want a cigarette and so left it longer in between. on the last week I was only having about 5 a day and on the Friday I had one at 1 pm and decided it would be my last.
Haven't had any real cravings but have been a bit miserable ever since. This is getting better though.
You need to just take that final step and go for it
Right i have decided.....NOW is the time....thank you for all your messages, i was getting a bit worried about the champix not working but it was heartening to see that you all stopped on different days with it. I am on day 12 now and was supposed to stop on day 7 but they really hadn't kicked in yet but have just decided if i don't do it this very minute, i will have excuse after excuse so i have just smoked my last cigarette. Now, i am off to get busy at work...see ya all soon.
