Welcome Zak! And here begins your path to freedom. I am on day 8 and I already feel like I have beaten the stronghold that nicotine has on you. Some days you will have to fight a bit harder to fend off the nicotine demons who will try to give you an excuse to go back to smoking but most days it's not too bad fighting the demons away!
Good luck - although I'm sure you've got the determination and strength not to need the luck.
Keep us posted how you get on!
That first week will have passed before you know it!
Coffee
Yes coffe! I'am form a country where everyone drinks coffee (from Italy specifically...) and the standard habit is Coffee & Cigarettes.. every single coffe break is a cigarette (or more), after dinner, every place in fact where there is not the "no smoking sign" (i realize now that every moment i am not inside a building i actually smoke...).. Think i'll write a post here instead of taking a fag... may be i'll seem a bit obsessive but i think it will not astonish anibody here
And that's why i begun to write here! At least everyone understand!!
Hi Zak - most of us, me included, have quit countless times in the past.
You can make the whole process a lot easier by doing your research and doing a little head work.
Have a read of this forum and some other sites, I love whyquit.com and woofmang.com for inspiration and information.
If you can bring your thought processes towards gaining freedom, health, wealth and many other things rather than "giving up" anything it will also help.
Understanding is the key... understanding the addiction and the things that happen to the body as it starts to recover will help you to rationalise the symptoms and not fixate on them as problems...
Finally I wish you all the best with your quit... post often and people here will try to advise you if you need it or congratulate you if you don't!
Zak - where in Italy are you? It is my favourite country!
Posting on here instead of having a ciggie is what I have done! The trouble is, you soon get addicted to this forum instead. At least this is free and not quite so bad for your health.
Yeah!
Hi Jerry-Lee from Genoa, a small (700k) town in front of the sea with a freezing wind in these days actually just to say i'd like to sleep but i'd like to go to the cigarettes "ATM" to buy something... so i write here while being too tired to go out (it's 1 km from here and luckily i have not the car available)... Usually i tended to say in my mind "i must not buy cigarettes", usally failing..
Thank you to everyone for the support given!!!
Thank you Stuart and Denise!!
Hello and welcome
Well done on quitting and lets make this the one that sticks!!
1st off try not to look on quitting as a sacrifice, in reality you are gaining a better way of life.
As Stuart said have a read of Whyquit and the tales at woofmang, there is a lot of inspirational, informative and some down right scary stuff there!
Post often and just don't smoke!!
All the best
Nic
