Hello :) glad I've found this community , I have CKD stage 3b , single kidney left at gfr 32 % , high blood pressure too . Just want to ask can u get symptoms at this stage? I've noticed I get sore legs and my skin is sore to touch very sensitive mainly on my legs? Is this common? Thank you xx

Hi. .I hope your blood pressure has been stabilized if it has then you are well off as with a low protein and potassium diet you should stay at stage three for a very long time. You are well off. Ask to see a kidney dietician and follow her diet strictly... legs do get a little sore but I find itching is worse and when that happens you know you are eating to much potassium

Good luck...... Vaw777

Hi vaw77, thankyou for your kind response, I've not been offered to see a dietician so it's new to me , it's handy to know about potassium too , yes I'm on perindropril for my bp which is stable . I had a kidney removed few years ago so want to hang onto this one

Hi, I was glad to find the forum too. Welcome to you.

I don't post often as most people on here are more clued up than I am on the medical front, but when it comes to speaking from personal experience I can definitely confirm that I get both itchy and. sore skin, mainly on my back, legs and scalp. In fact it is the main way I judge whether my kidneys are struggling a bit more than usual. If my skin is irritated then I check what I have and have not been eating and often I find that I have slipped a bit in following my kidney friendly diet. I am stage 3 by the way.

Hi calley

Thankyou too for your response too very helpful , my consultant kind if says should get any symptoms at stage 3 but I'm hovering on stage 4 with only one kidney left . How are you feeling generally? Good I hope . I def need to see a dietician I think as that would help xx thankyou

Hi

From talking with other kidney patients it seems that everyone is different.

Some doctors say you don't get symptoms at stage 3 but others are more understanding and try to address the symptoms you tell them about.

My symptoms came and went at that stage. Sore legs, cramps gout for 10 months which has now thankfully disappeared. Sickness and tiredness follow me round at the moment but it does vary for each individual.

You are the only one who knows how it is affecting your body so my advice is just go day by day and if symptoms arise, then address them but have in mind they can go as easy as they come.

Hope this is helpful.

Hi there

Thankyou as your response was very helpful, it's hard as when you have symptoms you kind of feel on ur own a bit in between consultant apts . Def agree everyone is different as day to day it changes you have to listen to ur body I guess. I hope your doing ok? Thankyou xx

Hi, I had a nephrectomy about five years ago which left me with 30% function - I've now got 17% and slipping! At stage three I was very tired and achy, high bp, headaches, anaemia , occasional gout attacks and a problem with high levels of phosphates. I saw a renal dietician who helped enormously. I would certainly ask for a referral if your hospital has one . Good look and hope you stay at that stage for a long time x
