I’m on Immuran ( Azathioprine) and Adoport ( Tacro) and have diarrhoea that isn’t unbearable but would be nice if I didn’t have it. Saw my consultant today who said he’d like it not to be there , and is thinking of a solution …. Anyone any suggestions . Does anyone think we become intolerant to wheat or dairy on the meds ? Or have noticed changes in digestion since transplant ?
thanks

I answered the other question, but I’ll say the same here. I find that eating yogurt each morning helps me. As for digestion, I believe mine has only gotten better since the transplant.
I take a probiotic everyday which seemed to help. However since switching to belatacept infusions, I haven't had any diarrhea at all. It was a three year journey. I started on tacro and had my dose changed every two weeks for 18 months, but still never got a stable level. I then switched to Envarsus, and stayed on the every two week roller coaster for another 18 months. Every time they changed my dose (either tacro or Envarsus), either up or down, I had diarrhea and a headache for three days. And I STILL couldn't get a stable tacrolimus level! So last fall, I was switched to belatacept and the headaches and diarrhea magically stopped. It's a more invasive way to get the anti-rejection med, but my quality of life is vastly improved! Definitely worth it!
