I received my Transplant Aug 3, 2021, my question is can you take nutritional supplements like nutrition 310 or things like that?
Nutrition Supplements: I received my... - Kidney Transplant
Nutrition Supplements
You would need to show the ingredients list to your center pharmacist. They know what meds you are on and can assess if any adverse interactions can happen. If so they will advise you against it.
It's good to ask that question. Some supplements can be harmful even though they get a lot of advertising. I take areds 2 for eye sight and nephrovite and vitamin d. Check with your transplant team. Any time I see a doctor other than my transplant doctor I always notify my transplant doctor when I am prescribed any type of medication for a second opinion. Take care.
This is a question you should be asking your nephrologist and your medical team.
Anything new medication that you will take (everything !!! , even headache, muscle pain etc) they should know and approve.
My nephrologist only allowed me to take fish oil, nothing else. Everything has to be natural.
Hope this helps
Looks like that is a meal replacement for weight loss with probiotics. I was told not to consume any meal replacements without talking to the transplant team. I was also told not to take any probiotic supplements, because they can boost your immune system too much. I can eat regular yogurt, but no probiotic supplements. I asked about probiotics because of all of the antibiotics they were giving me in the hospital and after I got home. I think you'd be better off getting a good blender and add regular protein powder with fruits and or vegetables. I like unflavored collogen protein or whey protein powder. I mix it with unflavored coconut milk and fruits/veggies.
I'd as the transplant dietician, pharmacist, or doc.
