I was told that amlodipine causes swelling and it definitely does for me, but only if I’ve been on my feet all day. If you’re on amlodipine, you could ask your dr to switch your meds to something similar. I was given that option.
I think we transplanted at the same time - 4 weeks ago, right???I have had swelling on and off, too. My weight has fluctuated about 2-3 pounds. I’m still on 5mg of Prednisone. I eat healthy, but I think I need to increase my fluid intake by another liter. I’m more active now and the Spring weather is warming up.
I think for me, it might be my sodium intake. My sodium and Phosphorus have been low, so my doctors took me off all sodium restrictions.
The side effects are tough sometimes. You have every right to rejoice in your new kidney, but be upset with side effects. Sometimes, it can feel like our bodies aren’t completely “ours”. The meds can be great one day and then give us problems the next. Good luck! I feel exactly like you do. You are not alone. Hugs!
Hi t.w. I never had problems with swelling nor weight gain after my transplant, so I cannot advise you there aside from suggesting you talk to your doctor about it. I do want to say that moaning/complaining and feeling bad about it are all a part of the healing process. Let it out. It will pass! I hope the "sun will shine" for you soon!
