Free Support Group: Would like everyone to... - Kidney Transplant
Free Support Group
I copied your info for someone who just srarted Hemo in the last month. Thank goodness her fistula was ready. Will copying this link and emailing it to her work, or does she have to be a HealthUnlocked member?
I gave her A LOT of kidney-related websites before she went into the hospital. Now she’s on hemo and asking me for all those sites again.
I even told her, via text yesterday, AGAIN about the NKF Peer Program and how to sign up.
I have a support group (meets once a month on Saturday at 11:00 and is monitored by a LMSW at Piedmont Hospital. She’s fantastic. The “new” hemo patients (although being introduced to the group at least 4 months ago, has only attended ONE meeting).
I told the LMSW it must be very frustrating for social workers, mentors, etc. to take the time, sometimes off the clock, to try to help people that will not help themselves. [Gold Star to you for being a Peer Mentor for NKF. I used them once before! I am now 14 months post-transplant.]
Some people want YOU take them by the hand or tell them everything they need to know (preferably written b/c the internet cannot locate the info?) and then they forget what you said. I told the Hemo patient yesterday that it causes me anxiety to have to repeat myself, so she better print these six texts I sent her and save them somewhere (I had already given her the info once before).
I would definitely not be on the list of mentors that have the patience of Job!
Thanks for your service!!
