I was thinking of getting Manuka Honey for my mom. She as a sore throat but im not sure if it would be ok? Do doctors approve of Manuka Honey to sooth and kill infections?

Manuka honey is delicious and claims say it can have health benefits, but some people can't have it as they can react badly to it. (You can get different strengths too and it's real expensive.) It can also not be good for people taking certain medicines so it would probably be best for her to ask her doctor about this.

A teaspoon of regular honey with the juice of a lemon in hot water is what I use for a sore throat and it works a treat.

Hope this helps...

I personally would resist taking Honey (specially in the initial years of Kidney Transplant), Some reasons: it has dormant microorganisms & would cause sugar spike in the blood, + I believe specially Tacrolimus & any form of sugar is a no no....but please talk to a Transplant nephrologist.

I’ve just been eating loads of honey and my sugar levels have spiked ! Will stop. I’ve reduced sugar massively because of prednisolone, you think Tacro and sugar don’t mix too?

Over time & in some instances early on too, immunosuppressants lead to "Nodat" new onset of diabetes after transplant, so we all transplant recipients have to be watchful of sugar intake.
