Kidney transplants and meloxicam

My husband is 18 years post kidney transplant. Due to severe pain in “private” areas we went to the ER last night where they prescribed meloxicam. Does anyone have any knowledge on whether a kidney transplant patient can take meloxicam?

I think it's like Motrin but in a heavy dose. Check with your nephrologist office. My husband was on that for arthritis. It's not very strong. You think they would fork out a narcotic for that kind of pain.

Do not take without checking first with your nephrologist! It is a strong NSAID. I know my doctor would not allow me to take even one. However, sometimes he can suggest an alternative.
