Elevated Lipase, Creatinine and BUN

Been feeling kind of icky lately. Been to the ER at least 3 times. Sharp lower right back pain. Urinating less than usual. Lab tests show my lipase elevated to 93, creatining at 2.67 and my BUN at 31. Doctor believes I have a viral infection along with dehydration and sends me home!?! I've had my kidney going on 28 years on 7/17/2019 and I want to keep it going but I'm afraid that they are not taking me seriously. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I've gotten a 2nd opinion both ways to get a 3rd I'd have to travel about 150 miles north of me. Just not too sure on what to do.

What did your nephrologist say?

I would make an appt with your nephrologist. Sounds like you could be in early rejection of your kidney. I would also wonder about the Lipase. I think normal is up to 140. Pain could be caused by a gall bladder attack. But only your doctor can tell what is going on. Make a list of questions and you need to go and see him to find out for sure what is going on. Don't go to the ER, but see your regular doctor

Was told to repeat labs which I did. BUN came down to 28. Creatinine still high. Potassium .3 above normal. CO2 normal. Still waiting on lipase test.

Nephrologist thinks due to my age (40) and how long I've had the transplant (28) it is just me getting older?

Wow, you have had your kidney a very long time. I would demand to see the kidney transplant center where you went. You mention emerg. room, but not the transplant center. I find this all alarming with having a high creatinine. My spouse had his kidney 7 months ago and our struggle since February is low hemoglobin. HE lays around the house more than doing things for he's exhausted. Creatinine is good and I am thankful for that. I pray you see the right people to be taken seriously.

My transplant doctor is now retired. She retired 4 years ago. My nephrologist also retired, but I currently am under another's care. Basically, none of my original team is in practice anymore due to them retiring. LOL. Anyway, the ER I always go to is the same hospital where my transplant was done. They always have a nephrologist and transplant specialist there 24/7. My main nephrologist is the one that said they believe it is something else. Still feeling not quite right. Creatinine last check was holding at 2.47 and my BUN was 28 which are both considered high. My CBC was excellent. Urine showed no protein, bacteria or infection. My electrolytes seem to be where they usually are. My CO2 one time went 1 point below normal but went back to normal. It is some strange mystery as to what is going on with me? Seeing my PCP to see if they will try to assist in figuring out what's going on with me.

Keep me posted on your 'mystery issues' that have the doctors scratching their heads and working hard to get you answers. I want you to feel good again. Keep the faith, it will happen! I mean that.
