Hello, i would like to know exactly where is the new kidney normally placed? Is it behind the abdominal muscles? Will the abs protect the kidney in case of a hit etc?

It is placed behind muscles but it will not protect it from being hit. You cannot play any kind of contact sports if that is what you are wondering.
Mine is in my groin, I have no protection around it so contact sports and things are a big No No xx

New kidneys are placed below your waist. There is some protection from your muscles. My scar, however, goes from just below my rib cage to the groin area. Even though I was careful I got an incisional hernia in my transplant scar at my waistline. I have actually had it repaired twice now. I am almost 20 years post transplant and the hernia was repaired this last time, 4 years ago.
My kidney is in front of my right pelvic bone. It's not protected in the front, but safer from behind.
