I've been participating in the Kidney Walk for the past 4 years here in Dallas, Texas. How many of you participate in the Kidney Walk where you live?

That's wonderful. Do you have any good fundraising ideas that you wouldn't mind sharing?

For the last three years, I have participated in the NY Kidney Walk to honor my donor Cole Michael Hagstrom. I had my SPK in August of 2014. This year I have 25 ppl on the team and it's still growing. Have raised over $50K.

That is wonderful. I plan to start fundraising for the DFW Kidney Walk next month. My team mainly consist of my family. Can you give me some fundraising ideas?

I began by posting on my FB page not necessarily asking for donations but asking people to join my team. Most knowing my story, did donate but I keep on stressing I wanted people to get out and WALK with me. Fortunately, those on my team asked if their employers had a match dollar-for-dollar program for causes like this. If their company didn't, somehow they were able to retrieve a donation from their company. In addition, everyone wasn't shy about asking their family and friends for donations stating no amount was too small.

Please forgive me, as the $50k is cumulative of the amount I raised over the last three years mainly due to the Dollar Match program a lot of companies offer.

I know it isn't much but you can also go the NKF walk site for your area and find information as well as a team coordinator who helps teams in fundraising. If you have any problems, let me know and I will forward some information from my team page.

Good Luck and Have a great Walk!!
