In honor of Valentine's Day this week- How has having kidney disease and a transplant affected your relationships or dating life? Any advice for others who may be having a hard time?

When on dialysis we didn’t allow it to stand in the way of anything. We decided to make dialysis apart of us. Since having my transplant our Valentine’s Day celebration consist of 3 instead of 2. We were blessed to have our first child while on dialysis. So we just incorporate her into our plans.

You and your family seem so strong, thats great! Pregnant on dialysis WOW I guess me and my honey have no room to complain. What a blessing ! How are you today? The time it affects our relationship is when the meds have side effects that make him say things out of the ordinary or make him feel sick. This is so hard on both of us. I agree that you are all in it together. I try to divert our attention to fun things to get our minds off it.

I truly understand. On days like that we both knew that meant I was overly tired. I work 40 hrs a week, would work out in the evening, and did dialysis at 5am. So I definitely understand how it is when our body is tired, sick and sometimes the feeling of being overwhelmed. Being on dialysis we try our best to maintain a normal life style as much as possible. So we came up with a plan on days like that to just let me rest and not do anything. I would y’all to anyone, take off from work, watched a little tv or no tv at all. After a full 8 hours of doing absolutely nothing I would feel a lot better. I would suggest trying something along the lines to see if makes a difference.
