Hi! My name is Gail. My mother was on dialysis for 16 years because of PKD. I myself was diagnosed with PKD in 06. I am terrified of dialysis btw, fortunately I didn't have to do dialysis. Then in 09 we discovered brain aneurysms due to PKD. Had my transplant in 2014, from a cadaver donor. Then a radical nephrectom, my old kidneys were almost 10 pounds a piece and a whopping 18 inches long. In 2016 my kidney (Bob as we like to call him) was failing, scary tissue had made a blockage, a nephrectomy tube became a stent, that has to be exchanged every 3 months. It has been a journey, but it has totally been worth it. Even having to give up so much, is worth me being around to see my grandchildren be born and grow, hopefully for many years to come.

Hi Gail, thanks for sharing. It is very much appreciated, you are awesome!!
Yes, life is very special and I think we can all say, a true miracle! Thanks for sharing your story! I think we all "do" what we have "to do" to continue our journey. My transplant was also from a cadaver 18 years ago. No big issues with my kidney function, but have lots of issues associated with the drugs I take. Good luck to you, and God bless you!
PKD - Welcome to my life. I also have a Kidney BOB - Conceived in 2011 after a lot of issues and rejection of my brother in laws. Just hang in there and remind Bob he's there for you and you are his. I had a PRA count of 99 which means I'll reject 99 out of 100 kidneys. But Bob has hung in there. He was an extended Kidney and was put in me at 11:30 PM because he expired at 12 AM that night in 2011. Well I pray each night for Bob and Not today he is still doing fine, we've been through many biopsies and lots of issues but he always comes back through. I've been at stage 4 since I received Bob but stage 4 is fine, I'm not on any dialysis and I'm willing to take the pills and do what I need to. Don't be scared just learn to live with Bob and do what the doctors say and it will be OK. God bless you.
