Hi! I'm Richie, a Peer Mentor.
I have PKD. I was diagnosed at age 22.
I started in-center hemo in 1997.
On Jan. 6, 1998, I received a kidney from my wife.
It's still working after 19 years.
My main focus to my mentees is to distinguish between rational fears, and irrational fears.
I also assist mentees to focus on what they can do, rather than feeling bad about what they can't do.
I hope to connect with many of you!
BTW, I'm 69.
Nice your wife could help. I have PKD too. Transplanted in April 2016. I'm 61 and was dx'd at the age of 25.

RichP48. I am 1 year and 5 months out. I am afraid to do a lot of things. Mostly because I have had low wbc for a while. So I am sickly sometimes. I've had pneumonia while healing from that a brain tumor was found. All fixed now. I have the BK virus and have had a couple infusions to try to rid me of that. It makes me afraid to be around people. I know it may sound silly.
