I am at 4th stage with creatinine of 3.5. I am 50 and worry about my wife and kid... high on emotions... doctor says I have couple or few years left. I take care of myself.

If you have been in my situation, your words may heal me.

Hello there, thank you for sharing during a tough time. I don't have kidney disease -- I am one of the NKF staff that follows the posts. You posted this in the kidney donation community so you may not reach someone who has been in your shoes. If you join the the other NKF community called "kidney disease" I am confident you will find support. You can do so here: healthunlocked.com/nkf-ckd. Just cut and paste your post from here into that community!

Hi Live_Positive,

I definitely think you will feel better when you hear from other patients. As PattyM_NKF shared, you will find support on the Kidney Disease and Kidney Dialysis online communities. Many there have shared their experience and you will feel encouraged knowing you are not alone. I had kidney disease too and was on dialysis before I received a transplant. It was a very stressful and sometimes lonely experience, but connecting with others helped me to feel mentally stronger to keep on fighting my disease.

Hello, Just want to say I have a friend (actually 2) who changed there numbers and their health by finding a good nutritionalist. They were where you are currently at and by changing their diets they have many more years ahead of them. In fact they were ready to give up. Seriously consider this approach if it has not been offered to you as I know most doctors won't even talk about it here in the U.S.

I am 60 years old and have been on dialysis for two years. It is not how I want to live but my life goes on, I still work and though I get tired all in all it is doable . I am on the

UNOS transplant list and actively trying to find a living donor . You have a family and are young, fight for more then a “few years “, as you should have many good years ahead. Wishing you the best.
