I got the news today my surgery date will be December 4th. I am super excited. I meet with the surgeon, Dr. Del Pizzo from Cornell on November 27th. I will be part of only a 2 person chain. I was asked if I mined the chain not being long. My answer was, that I went into this wanting to help one person. Any more that that is truly amazing. I was told that my recipient is a mother of 2 children who’s husband is a Marine for 25 years. He is going to donate to another so his wife may get my kidney. I was overwhelmed with emotion when I was informed of this.

Fantastic news. Thank you for being an altruistic donor......you are helping not only two people but also others on waiting lists (who without your selfless donation) may have had to wait longer for a donated kidney. So yes you are helping many others, including their respective families and loved ones. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Thanks again.

Congratulations !! Dr Del Pizzo and his entire team are amazing. I donated altruistically on NYP Weill Cornell on May 22 2018 and have never felt better. I initially reached out to this forum just prior to my own surgery and was comforted with the advice and uplifted by all the love and compassion. I too, was full of questions, concerns, and curosity prior to May 22 2018, regarding TAP block, pain management, diet, exercise, hospital stay, what to bring and what to leave at home, post op movement, etc.

That’s so great to hear. Do you think it would be possible for me to contact you? Please let me know what is the best method. Appreciate the reply.

Absolutely !!! I returned to work after only 2 weeks (my choice) and that work that day i met a fabulous women who was in the process of donating her kidney to her husband...and her surgeon was non other that Dr Del Pizzo. It was wonderful heart warming fate ! I felt honored to be able to partake in her journey and share with her my recommendations and tips for a more comfortable recovery. She and her husband are doing awesome . My new friend for life came to see me at work a few days ago...and we couldn't help ourselves but to compare scars and chat about our positive experience with the process. My scar is barely 1 inch in length and for me it is my badge of honor and I wear it proudly.

Excellent! I can appreciate how you feel, I donated to my wife 5 years ago and Dr. DelPizzo performed the surgery at NYPWCMC.

Best wishes to you and everyone involved with this amazing life changing endeavor. 👏
