Just got approved to be a Non-Directed Donor

Very excited to get the news I am cleared to donate. Will be part of a paired exchange. Not sure how big the chain will be yet. Anyone else participate in a paired exchange?

I have not participated in such an exchange, I was a directed donor to my Dad, however, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for being such a wonderful person! Best of luck to you! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!

I donated my kidney in Oct. 2015 and was part of a paired exchange. In our chain there were 5 donors and 5 recipients. My kidney was flown out to a person in Cincinnati, OH and my non-direct recipient received her kidney from a person in New Jersey. All 10 surgeries took place in a 3-day span.

Did you ever get to meet or have contact with your recipient?

My Non-Direct Recipient yes, she was my co-workers mom. My actual recipient I have never met. I wrote a letter to that person and gave it to the hospital for them to forward to that person but I never heard back.

Hi, I was part of an paired exchange Oct 2018 two donors and two recipients. My kidney went to a person in Boston and my recipient here in NYC came from a women in LA. All going well but know very little about the Boston or LA people. An amazing amount of moving parts to make this happen. Just glad I could help out.
