HI RNRED, You probably know to check your meds to see if any are causing the edema. BP meds are famous for edema in the lower extremities. Have you tried wearing compression socks? I wear them for comfort and because I am on a BP med that causes edema. I would also suggest to see if you have venous insufficiency. I also have heard that going in water, such as a pool or large tub helps to remove water. Just suggestions.

Any of the "lopidines" can have the same effect.

Yes, amlodipone caused me to have badly swollen legs and hydrazne caused me to retain urine.

Do you mean Hydralazine? I have found out BY DOING MY OWN RESEARCH that I had several medications that had life-altering side effects. NO help from any Dr. I am the one that has to ask to get off or change medications.

Yes, it was hydrazaline thst caused me to retain urine. As a result, I developed a severe infection thst sent me to the ER and required a few weeks of antibiotics. Of course, all of this lowered my gfr. ER doctor felt my dose was too high and my nephologist at the time didn't check up on how I was doing after he prescribed such a dose. Yes, we all have to be our own advocates and check up on our own treatment.

I think some doctors forget we are all different and can respond differently to meds. I'm sure lots of people take amlodipine and hydrazaline and have no side effects, but there are some who do.
