Cant sleep!

I have been on dialysis for the last 6 months, and recently had an aortic valve replacement. Now I cant sleep more than 4 hours without waking up and being unable to sleep further. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated! Any drugs, teas, etc?

You really must speak with your doctor about this. I can only tell you I use melatonin and for me it works.

You just went through a life changing surgery. Did you go to cardiac rehab afterwards? I did when I recovered from stress-related cardiomyopathy and it helped me to go back to exercising under safe conditions (we wore heart monitors during our exercises sessions and had our blood pressures checked before and after exercising and there were nurses present throughout the sessions). Exercising is one of the things suggested in helping in sleep quality. Check with your doctors for more advice. When I wake up in the middle of the night I use the bathroom and stay up and read for awhile til I get sleepy again. Take care!

Thanks for this knowledgeable reply. Yes, I should be in physical therapy and that would probably help me sleep.
