LSD acid on Dialysis

My teen is ESRD and has been for two years. He has also struggled with Leukemia, and anxiety/depression. He has a friend that's telling him to use LSD! He's been doing research online and he's convinced he wants to try it... I'm worried sick. I've seen online that acid is metabolized in the liver, so maybe it wouldn't be a big deal, but I'm scared to mention it to his doctors. I think if I crack down on him without some hard evidence he won't listen and just go behind my back. Help! Does anyone have experience using LSD on dialysis? He does PD.

I'm so sorry to hear that your teenager wants to try LSD. Please pray to Jesus to intervene on behalf of your son. I will also pray in Matthew chapter 18 verse 20 reads: For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. Jesus Christ knows what you are going through and how worried you are about your family.

Hi Firefingers,

I'm sure you're already aware, but LSD is a Schedule I drug in the United States (along with most countries in the world), according to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. This means LSD is illegal in the U.S. According to the FDA, it has a high potential for abuse, has no legitimate medical use in treatment, and there is a lack of accepted safety for its use, even under medical supervision.

I urge you to contact your sons medical team, so they can explain the dangerous risks associated with using any drug not approved by his doctors and specifically how this could affect his blood pressure, blood sugar, and his heart.

Best,

Kristi

Yes, I think I will have to talk to someone on his medical team... I just don't want him to get in trouble or get hurt. We've already been through so much.

Have you considered mental health therapy for him? He would greatly benefit from sessions with a psychologist who specializes health issues. I don't know where you live, but you can try to contact the psychological association in your state and ask some referral information of counselors who work especially with adolescents as well as those with medical problems. Good luck and keep us posted.
