Drainage from Fistula

Hello everyone, I am new here and I am taking care of my father, 72 yrs old, who is on hemodialysis for about two months. He got fistula three weeks ago but we still see drainage in the area of fistula in his arm. colorless, watery thin liquid that keeps coming and make the bandage wet. Seems he does not have any blood problem. there is no sign of infection or swollen as well. If anyone has such an experience, could you please share it. I appreciate your help.

I'm not sure what it is, but call the doctor. That is the best thing. Sorry I was not any help. If you don't mind, please tell me what the doctor said and let me know if he's okay.

For you. Don't worry til you have to.

I do peritoneal.....

Good Morning!!!!!!!

Good Morning. :) Thank you for the reply. Yes, my father visited the surgeon and the surgeon checked the fistula in procedure room to make sure there is no clot or any other problem. He said everything looks fine. He said it is better do not move the arm a lot. Also, ordered a special type of blood test. by the way, the drainage is still there.

Thank you LadyLuv, I try my best to control my stress and concern. :)

I agree, call the doctor. Also, you might want to find more help through a caregiver forum such as: kidney.org/search-results?s.... They may have more experience and information that would be more useful to you.

Has he had his follow-up appointment with his surgeon yet? He should do that and ask the surgeon about it. I think I had that happen, too and it was normal, but he should still ask his doctor. As long as there is no swelling or redness I wouldn't be too concerned.
