Problem with staff at dialysis center

I have been having problems with the social worker at my dialysis center. She interferes when I am speaking to mother staff and says I am disrespectful in a demeaning , condescending tone of voice. This is in front of staff and patients so I am humiliated. I have responded in kind. I know isn't good. Has anyone had this problem? How do you handle your emotions?

TWO WRONGS DO NOT MAKE A RIGHT- TELL THE SOCIAL WORKER WHAT YOU ARE FEELING, AND IF THAT DOESN'T WORK, PLEASE ASK TO SPEAK TO THE FACILITY ADMINISTRATOR. THE SOCIAL WORKER IS UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE FACILITY ADMINISTRATOR. 3RD CHOICE- SPEAK TO YOUR DOCTOR. HOPE THIS HELPS...GOOD LUCK

I did speak to the administrator. The social worker spoke to me on Friday. She changed her attitude but I don't buy it. At least the airis cleared. Honestly, I would never go to her for help. I don't trust her.

If you feel your concerns are not being adequately addressed by the staff at your center you can also contact your local ESRD Network, they have a patient advocate on staff who can help you with any issues you face. Find your ESRD Network here: esrdnetworks.org. Additionally, here is information on your rights and responsibilities as a patient: kidney.org/atoz/content/dia...

Thank you so much. Right now things are okay. The Administrator is very good about following through on matters. so the problem was addressed and things are better. The info you gave me is good to know.

Being proactive and taking charge of all of your health needs has to be the top priority. Keep up the strong effort. Nice job.

You followed the grievance process and good for you for advocating for yourself. You can also, when you need, as for a different social worker. The lead can help you or a social worker from a neighboring facility. Sorry you’re having this problem.

Things with the social worker are okay for now. I will never go to her for help. I see my therapist once a week so I get help from her. I have given up expecting any help from the dialysis center. I go to a center in a poor neighborhood. Sadly, the level of care is not good. I go there because my doctor is the director.

Try home dialysis if u can find a partner to cannulate (stick) u. Its really not that difficult & the level of care is completely different. Public dialysis is a constant battle w staff who just want to get home before their shift end and if u drop dead in the parking lot oh well? Eventually they can&will kick u out as they document "your attitude" with their friends as witnesses. If u remain quiet they will eventually damage or kill u.
