Is funds available for transportation to Dialysis centers. Not eligible for Medicard. I have been on dialysis for over two years and have been driving myself three times a week about 20 miles one way. Need help.

It really depends upon where you live. If you live in a somewhat rural area there are OATS type transportation (buses). If you're in a urban or even suburban they often have buses available with regular routes. Are you on Medicare? Medicaid? Some states also have kidney programs available that may help in this matter as well. Firstly, your clinic social worker should be helping you with this concern. Please consider speaking with him/her for information and assistance. Be assertive. Blessings

I think the American Kidney Fund will provide support for transportation to dialysis center. Check with you social worker at the dialysis center.

Hi pkrob. There is a site called America kidney Funding. I think that is the name & they do help with trans cost because I need a car and found this site. Check it out & I will look for the site link & post it. Also Easter Seals helps people with disabilities. Good Luck & stay strong.
