are dietitian any good

I too have proteinuria and weight loss plus other conditions. I thought my intestinal tract was not processing foods and nutrients as well as they did years ago before all the meds antibiotics prednisone etc. Years ago I had a primary care doctor prescribe Cultrurelle Probiotic when he was trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I decided to try them (OTC from Amazon Cultrurelle Probiotic and Prebiotic gummies for adults) and felt a difference. I took them for a few weeks and began to actually gain weight. I switched to Culturelle Probiotics Daily Digestive Probiotic with Prebiotics 200mg Inulin from Amazon that looked similar to the ones prescribed years ago. They too have continued to work. I chose this strain to help with other digestive issues. I took them daily to get used to them and because I was skeptical if they would make anything worse, but I am still gaining weight a little bit at a time not missing any meals.
Technically, "renal" dietitian should be very helpful and many are. However, my experiences were not very good. Although I'm in a populous area near Orlando, I was not able to find a renal dietitian. The three dietitian i found were vegan and provided menus that were not acceptable to me. Neither one of them would change their suggestions. For me, Making a shift from a meat and potato life style was too much to do at once. Anyway, my understanding of the goodness that "renal" dietitian provide is that they study your labs and your medical problems and provide diets or suggestions that address your specific needs. Diets should be based on YOUR labs and YOUR medical problems. Rarely is it one diet for everyone. Hope this helps Good luck in finding a diet that helps.
I don’t have a dietitian. I’ve always researched my stuff and went from there. I do follow ana dietitian online on Instagram. Michele Crosmer, RD, CSR She and sometimes a nephrologist Dr. Hashmi have made YouTube videos about this subject as well as other kidney related topics. I hope everything works out for you.
You're in the UK. The education and training of dieticians in your country may be very different than those in the US. My husband, in the US, went to a "renal" dietician referred by his nephrologist and discovered she didn't know how to blend a diabetes/renal diet. So, his GP physician stepped in took over his diet care - and that produced excellent results. Suggest checking in with your doctors and sources in the UK. UK dieticians may be better than those in the US.
