the more posts I read the more I get confused, but I can see why some people suffer from malnutrition cutting protein out, that's what is going to happen to me because I am only 8st I can see the difference in me already, I need the calories, I wonder if the albutrix that I have been reading about would help me,
it's still all confusing : the more posts I... - Kidney Disease
it's still all confusing

First of all, if you have managed to cut out all protein, you are eating the wrong foods. You need some protein. Late stage CKD patients, not on dialysis, need at least 30 grams. So, who ever told you to cut it all out was giving you very dangerous advice. See a dietician. Supplements due not work as well as the real food EVER!
I have to have some protein because of my osteoporosis, I have alpro unsweetened soya milk and yogurt, but with proteinuria I am still leaking protein, with proteinuria your egfr and other things can be normal on your blood test but you are still leaking protein because I look as though I am wasting away I only 8st. it's hard work.
Quit reading and searching google. Find a couple of sites that are trustworthy, i.e. Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, John Hopkins and I'm sure the UK has some too. Go to NKF web site, it has tons of good info. As for diet, eat a healthy one, it should be well balance, jut cut back a bit on your meat.
Why have you modified diet to such an extent? Doctors orders? If so discuss with the doc and ask for a referral to a nutritionist. Certainly protein consumption CAN worsen our disease but not in all cases. I’ve been stage 4 since 1996 and there were no diet moderation protocols for our disease in 1996 in Little Rock, Arkansas. I never ate a ton of protein and didn’t post CKD diagnosis and subsequent AKI hospitalization of almost 7 months. It wasn’t offered as a treatment to me in 1996. I did “clean up” my diet and the rest of my life added exercise etc. I believe that moderation in all things has been the key to my longevity (thus far) post-CKD diagnosis /AKI 7 month hospital stay. Now there is a CKD diet but I’m unfamiliar. I simply tried to avoid things I knew were bad for me like alcohol, high fats, too much protein etc. and live as Walt Whitman motto…”all things in moderation.” Now I’m not you and of coyrse follow doctors orders but diet and proper nutrition is vitality important to maintain optimal health, I ate (and still eat) a balanced diet avoiding excess in anything, cut out things I knew were bad for me, alcohol, high fatty foods, steak and ice-cream which are my favorites. Yet still have a steak 3 times a year but no ice cream on steak night…lol! Finally not all of us need to “cut protein out,” as you say. If your diet is prescribed by a doctor then by all means listen to them not me. However, if you have modified your diet on your own and it’s causing problems as your post indicates, eat normally, talk to your trusted physician and see if diet modification is part of your treatment plan, if not than eating healthy is far more important than deciding yourself to take such severe action as it seems your diet modifications reflect. Just my opinion and I’ve been LOW stage 4 since 7 months in hospital in 1996. As always just my layman’s but CKD stage 4, eGFR sub 20 since 1996 opinion.
