I have recently put in this feed about feeling so tired no matter what I do. Exercise eat well etc.
I get a B-12 shot weekly. On my last lab report my B-12 was flagged as being to high out of range being highest 900. I thought this was odd as B-12 is supposed to help with energy fatigue etc. any thoughts on this and could it effect my overall kidney function.

B- 12 is definitely good but why get a shot when it is already high. You can after discussing with your doctor take a break and if later the labs show low levels you can always resume. It may be a case of too much of a good thing,
My parents both take B Complex mainly to optimise b12. Hope you can read the advice below if you can/decide to switch? Ideally see a relevant practitioner first.quora.com/Can-taking-too-mu...
When your kidneys are not working well, you can be taking something for a while and all of a sudden, there is too much. it is why we do labs all the time. So yes, you probably need to stop the B12 for a bit and see what happens. As to the fatigue, you do not say what stage CKD you have. It is very common to develop anemia with CKD and the fatigue it causes is very real. Do a lab for hemocrit and hemoglobin and check the levels. There is medication to help with that. Stay hydrated also help with being tired.
I had similar situation. Had 1 B12 shot a year ago, as level low. I am taking B12 (500mcg) as Doctor prescribed and now B12 is high range (1,000) . The multi vitamin has B12 also. Doctor said that is OK. Better than low.
Something to keep in mind is that sublingual (under the tongue dissolvable) B-12 is far more bioavailable than when ingested as a pill. It's not as bioavailable as injections, but much better than in regular pill form.
I'm tired all the time too. My iron is low, but now low enough for epo shots or blood transfusions. I take iron twice a day. Since I can't get constipated too much iron doesn't lead to the kinds of issues people with a full digestive system have. I lost my colon 31 years ago. I just can't fix the anemia. I also get b12 monthly. B12 is absorbed on the terminal illum and I don't have one. I've never heard of weekly b12 shots. My clinic won't even let me get my next shot before 31 days have passed. I get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. Chronic disease does wear on people. Low energy has multiple possible causes. Ask your Dr to check for them all. Sometimes it just is and there is no treatment.
I have an ileostomy also which leads to dehydration and anemia no matter what I do and I am in stage 4., related to all of that! B12 injection monthly for 6 years now since the ileostomy. And yes, fatigue can hit me suddenly sometimes. I am 81 and long retired, so I can rest when needed.
My dog tries to make me nap. She'll try to herd me to bed when she sees me tired. Sadly I have to work. I telework full time. No work means no health insurance for my whole family.
I am stage 3 kidney disease. Last blood work showed working at 33 percent. For some reason it has slowly declined. I try to get 54 ounces of water in everyday. I try and do a mile everyday. That was the reason behind getting b-12 shot. Some days I am so tired I don’t want to walk. So I guess it just could be all of it put together. I don’t know. I appreciate everyone’s input. I feel like I get more out of this group than my doctor somedays
I'm just curious, if your kidney labs are OK, have you considered it's a health issue not kidney related? For example I have thyroid disease and when my thyroid is low, everything feels like dead weight and I am almost tired.
I live with a lot of conditions and CKD was one of the first diagnosed at age 35, now I've got a collection of them, most rare. When my Vitamin D gets too low I also get very tired.
My thyroid has been checked over and over. I recently started taking vitamin D hoping it may boost me up. I take triameterene for blood pressure. Wondering if it may be changing of meds. I’m 67 and I feel like I should feel more energetic. I’m not saying I do t have stress in my life because I do. I am working on that seeing a therapist. IDK. I just know I just walked a mile and feel ok today. Tomorrow may be a different story. That’s what I don’t understand how it comes on so quickly. Thank u for responding. Sometimes I think the doc just blow u off. That is why I am seeking a second opinion end of may.
Meds can do it, truly! My husband just started on BP meds for the first time and he has no health issues otherwise. But he was falling asleep at 9:00 pm when he used to annoy me by staying up all night. It's been a few months since he started and he's back to staying up until 11. (The med he's on is valsarten...I am on amlodipine and it never bothered me)
I feel the same way, doctors are kind of a mess after COVID. I had so many doctors retire or move since 2020. If you can afford a second opinon (or third, if you don't like the doctor) then you are doing yourself a huge favor. Being heard by a doctor and feeling comfortable talking to them are very important no matter what your issues are
Wishing you all the very best. Vitamin D is also a reason for low energy levels. So glad you are addressing it. How is your sodium level? Some medications can also lower sodium. And low sodium impacts energy levels as does CO2. Hope you feel better soon. And agree with your earlier remark this group is indeed a blessing.
When I was fatigued fatigue few months ago, I found out I had low thyroid. There could be other factors causing tiredness. I al get weak when my iron level is low.I get iron infusions as needed as well as shots; f Mirvera, which help the body make red blood cells. Improvement does take time and patience.
