You may be having pain from other issues as there often is no "pain" directly from the kidneys unless you have stones. If you flank pain or in the area of the kidneys, it might be from muscle pull. What stage are you? Do you have a lot of fluid on you body, such as your legs and abdomen? Excess water will often cause discomfort. Also, if you truly think it is your kidneys causing the pain, get a CT Scan to see what is going on, if anything.

My kidneys are so big that they are pressing into my ribcage. Please don't tell people there is no pain with kidney disease, with PKD there is a lot of pain. I was really just wondering if others have figured out how to deal with the pain and to exercise.

Wish you had clarified that in your first post. A lot of people confuse back pain with CKD. So, yes, a good exercise to try is water exercise. I started going to water PT and gradually went over to water aerobics. We do it in a current channel against the current. Not easy but great for muscle tone. I had to give it up for a while due to dialysis, but now I am back to it.

I've been thinking about water exercise, simply for the low impact.

I too experience pain in the area of my kidneys. I am experiencing it as I write this. There might be other things associated with it that are unseen, but the pain is real. I usually just wait it out, drink water and rest. I purchased a bike peddler that you can use when seated in a chair to increase excercise and it seems to be helping. I hope that you find relief.

Amazing, I've done all of these things too! Great minds think alike!

Although I’ve not experienced kidney pain there are days I’m pretty tired and avoid exercise. My husband bought me an e-bike. I have a great place to ride it as well. And it gets me out in the sun. I can work as hard or as little as I like. I’ve recommended this bike to several friends. All with different health concerns and we all love it. Many parks and museums have them to rent. Any pain slows us down but we have to keep moving. Glad you brought this up!
