chronic kidney disease stage 3b
I too am a 3b CKD patient and you can do many things to stay there and healthy. I found many resources thru this forum, and I feel you will too. Some of the sites I went to are:
DaVita.com
kidney.org
Read, read, read - from reputable sources. There are a lot of snake oil sales people out there trying to get you to buy their pill or subscribe to their consultations and you will be cured. Health Unlocked will kick people off this forum when they are selling their services. I recently reported someone who was posting about a "great nutrition blog and service" while failing to mention it was his blog and his services being sold. The sources listed by others are reputable, but watch out, especially online. I also checked out a lot of library books.
If you know the cause of your CKD getting that under control is #1. #2 is lightening the load on your kidneys to help slow the progression of CKD. A plant based diet it the leading recommendation for that. Due to my special circumstances (my CKD is from 31 years of dehydration from an ileostomy) I can't do a plant based diet, but I rarely have red meat and have cut back drastically on caffeine. I drink non stop.
Feel free to ask questions here and people will usually point you in the right direction.
I think mine came from high blood pressure I don’t know since when I’ve had it just know I had to change doctors to find out it’s so sad
what are your favorite research papers on diet?
I have never done research on diets I just goggle if a certain food is kidney friendly
Me too, Injust keep looking foods up. However, I do have basic things I eat, eg, some chicken, fish and eggs, fruit and veg. I do have milk as I love tea and occasionally ice cream ( because I love it too, and cake)…so I am a bad example. Joking aside I have stopped all convenience foods and look at labels for nearly all the time for phosphates and potassium. In general I do my best and that’s all we can do. Some good advice on this forum which I have explored in depth too. It takes time, but I now have a fair list drawn up of foods I can eat.. plus occasionally the ones I shouldn’t . Wishing you all the best x
