Hi I'm wondering if anyone has any symptoms with stage 2 CKD. I'm having test for this and feel very very worried. Thank you
SYMPTOMS STAGE2: Hi I'm wondering if anyone... - Kidney Disease
SYMPTOMS STAGE2
Mostly in stage 2 there aren't any symptoms. What tests are you getting?
Some fraction of people might have foam from protein in urine at stage 2, but kidney failure is well known for being symptomless until its fairly advanced. Also, your life doesn't have to change much at stage 2, where I am, but if you want to help your kidneys as much as possible, you should read up about lifestyle changes. That is, of course, if it turns out you do have it. Hope the tests turn out good!
Even if you are diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease, you should be concerned, but not worried. There is much you can do to take control.
I was diagnosed in 2017, made changes in diet and liquid intake. My egfr was 36. Since then, it has been 54.0, 54.7, 48.4, 54.3, 61.2, 53.9, 42.9, etc. My Nephrologist as concerned that, at my last blood test, it was 42. I tightened the reigns again and brought it back up to 50.
I wish I could be religious about my diet control and liquid intake. Unfortunately, actual life does get in the way. I totally agree with, "if you want to help your kidneys as much as possible, you should read up about lifestyle changes".
That’s impressive on how you can get your numbers up by diet and liquid intake! I’m newly diagnosed stage 2 myself. What do you do? Do you have a link or reference to the regimen you use? I have the foam in my urine occasionally and it always upsets me to see it; if you had that too, does that improve when your eGfr numbers increase?
Once I was diagnosed, I spent many months educating myself about ckd. This site and the many members who share their information helped much. I also worked on collecting recipes that are supportive of kidney health. When I was cooking a particular meal, I would do searches on that meal, followed by ckd. I was able to collect many recipes that way. These sites may be helpful:
National education, support and advocacy organizations:
• DaVita Kidney Disease and Dialysis Forums is well known for their recipes but they also have a forum for patients too.
• Renal Support Network provides many support and advocacy services including a phone support line.
• AAKP is a comprehensive resource focusing on the quality of life for kidney patients through education, advocacy, patient engagement and the fostering of patient communities.
• National Kidney Foundation provides a portal for patients too.
It is a lifetime commitment, so I often go back to searching for information. Knowing what you should and should not eat/drink becomes part of your memory bank.
Thank you for the awesome idea on putting ckd at the end of a recipe!! Genius lol. Thanks for the info it’s greatly appreciated.
That's a great list of resources lowraind 👍
