We just found out we have to do a colon cleanse for the PD Catherter
Like if your were having a colonoscopy. Is there any alternatives besides drinking GoLytely. Has anyone done this that’s in a wheelchair and moves very slow to the toilet.

Hello
I am not really familiar with the pd but I recently had an upper and lower endoscopy done . As you have to drink so much of the medicine to cleanse I would prepare to make your commode as comfortable as possible maybe have your laptop, phone, iPad or circle word puzzles because it’s really not easy to keep getting up and down especially in a wheelchair. I would ask your Dr if you can have the Name Brand laxative called SuPrep.
Be specific with Dr about Name Brand only the generic is a yucky orange .
I’ve had 3 with this stuff perfect cleanse every time and it doesn’t taste as horrid as some of the others.
Have plenty of baby wipes or warm wash cloths and aquafor ointment my opinion the best .
Hope this helps a little and I wish you the best of luck.
Ps.. I pour mine into 16 ounces water bottle bottles and set timer on my clock and drink 1/2 a bottle every 15 min
My hubby had his PD catheter placed without anyone mentioning he needed a colon cleanse. You're literally the only one I know that's been told this. If that requirement is a problem, I would ask if there's another surgeon who could perform it without a cleanse. My hubby was presented with a list of surgeons to pick from so you, too, may have options.
