Hi, I've had stage 3a/3b ckd for over a year now. Most days I feel quite fatigued, but another symptom I have is concentration problems, retaining information and processing it.I've been called up for jury service age 65, but don't feel capable of doing it, so I've sent off a reply saying so.
Anyone else with ckd had this experience. I'm from England
Hi from the US. I can certainly relate. I am 68 years old and have had compromised kidney function since I was eight years old when I went through a period of about a week without being able to urinate. All my life I’ve had fatigue from anemia. As I’ve gotten older the brain fog has definitely gotten worse. Luckily I was able to retire a couple years ago. I was struggling more and more with memory and retention. I wish I had something I could tell you would improve it. I would certainly concentrate on trying to get decent sleep. But the problem is low red blood cells and my Nephrologist says that taking iron will not help with this type of kidney problem. Best of luck to you. ❤️

God help the poor soul who's on trial if they don't!!Laughing aside, the fatigue and brain fog seem to just stick with me no matter how long I sleep, or which supplements I take. I think with some people it just goes hand in hand with ckd, yet some others with worse function seem to feel ok. We're all individuals x
I'm in the US also. I can't remember if I was still on dialysis or had just finished but I was still very sick from the autoimmune disease I had and I received a jury summons. I took it to my neph and he filled out the part saying why I couldn't do it from a medical aspect.

If your low red blood count is due to your kidneys, that can be remedied with EPO shots, and if your iron is also low, you will need to take iron pills so the injections will work! I think you need a new Neph!
I have never heard of EPO shots. I’ll ask my Nephrologist as I’m seeing him tomorrow.
I do not know what is necessary where you are....I had to get a written letter from my doctor to remove me from ever being on jury duty.

As you at age 62. I wrote back to the court with my health issues and was excused.

You might need more-a higher dose more often. When your blood is tested, you need to have it tested for usable B12 (my haematologist told me this).

Hello Blackcat, fatique is a problem for me also and brain fog.Also very bad anxiety.
I am stage 3 also but haven't seen a neph because my g p drags her feet referring me.
I spent the day in ER. for extreme low blood pressure, it was brought back to normal but Dr. didn't find the reason. I had all kinds of blood test.
I hope this doesn't happen again.

Hi. It's odd, I spent 2 days in ER getting all kinds of test which are all OK.Dizziness. Fog. Very low energy and part of it could be from UTI meds. 2 more day of them and then see if I feel better. I feel you and everyone also, we are in a same situation more and less. Staying positive is must and also not easy.

Hi, I’m at stage 4 ckd, but have had the same problems as you are writing about. I have discovered that as waste builds up in the body from lack of proper filtering by kidneys, it can waste the muscles, and it will decrease energy levels. I have to maintain hydration to help the kidneys flush the toxins out. I try to drink at least 2 liters of water daily, in addition to any other fluids I consume. I have started to force myself to walk at least 3-5 times a week. My goal is one mile at a time, or at least 30 minutes. It is definitely helping me. There are days when I can barely get out of my chair, but I am noticing that I am able to do a few more chores, my balance is better, and my fatigue is not as bad. I really encourage you to give it a try. Best to you!
Hi curious ckd. I've always wondered why my muscles seem to be less strong than they used to be, especially the leg muscles. Your description of why this is happening makes perfect sense. I too try to keep hydrated and walk if possible. I used to feel a fraud feeling like this, as when I first went to the GP with those symptoms I was told it couldn't be because of ckd!😔Take care and keep walking x
I hear you. I had the strongest leg muscles, and never dreamt I’d have a problem with them. I also have a herniated L5 disk, so that hasn’t helped. In addition to walking, I do as many leg exercises that I can think of, while stirring in my chair. I pump my feet up and down, side-to-side, and perform as many leg lifts as possible. Also, isometrics, where I tighten up my muscles as much as I can, and hold for a count of ten. 3-5 sets.
