New Nephrologist immediately urged me to start with medication: FARXIGA (Dapagliflozin). eGFR fluctuates between 25 and 29 (since Covid event). Fasting Gloucose now 93, Ha1C 6.3 (lowest in 10 years). So do I need this? What side effects have you had or great successes?

I fear the rash I have on my butt is one of the side effects. Haven't slept through the night since I started treatment. Seeing nephrologist this week. Will ask him.

The problem asking a question is you are going to get multiple answers. My husband is on Farxiga. His GFR went from 37 to 57. HIs A1c has been low 6. something. He has been on it for almost two years and no side effects at all. The Neph is cutting himback to annual visits because his labs are so good

He's very lucky. I am becoming truly desperate.

I was under the impression that people who are lower than Stage 2 should not take Farxiga.

I took Farxiga when I was around eGFR of 20, it didn't really help - I was on dialysis 10 month later. There isn't any real know reason not take it at lower eGFR its just that there is no clinical data - all the trials where done at higher eGFR, they just won't enroll anyone close to dialysis.
